Are you an experienced professional in finance and operations management with a passion for youth development and community empowerment? Youth Challenge International (YCI) is looking for a dedicated Operations and Finance Manager to join our team in Unguja, Zanzibar.

Position Overview:

The Operations and Finance Manager will oversee and support YCI’s HerStart initiative in Zanzibar. This role involves managing financial performance, human resources, procurement, and ensuring program quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

  • Oversee organizational systems, policies, and procurement processes.
  • Manage human resources functions including contracts, performance reviews, and recruitment.
  • Support logistics for Canadian volunteers, including orientation, accommodation, and transportation.
  • Ensure compliance with NGO registration and local regulations.
  • Co-lead health, safety, and security risk management efforts.

Financial Management:

  • Coordinate with YCI Headquarters for financial management and compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports, manage cash flow, and lead budgeting exercises.
  • Collaborate with project leads to align activities with the budget.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks and ensure adherence to accounting policies.

Technical Support and Training:

  • Provide training and support on finance, operations, and HR processes.
  • Assist in project management and decision-making.
  • Facilitate financial literacy and accountability among staff and partners.

Volunteer Management:

  • Supervise international volunteers and provide mentorship to integrate them into the program effectively.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in finance, operations, or human resources.
  • Strong understanding of organizational accounting and financial functions.
  • Experience with sustainable community development and volunteer management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Tanzanian citizenship or permanent residency, with preference for Zanzibar residents.
