ITM Tanzania Limited is seeking a qualified Clearing and Forwarding Officer to manage and coordinate the customs clearance of goods for import and export. This role ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments while complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process import and export documentation including customs declarations, shipping instructions, and permits.
- Liaise with customs authorities, shipping lines, port officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure timely clearance of shipments at ports.
- Track consignments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Verify shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
- Calculate and verify duties, taxes, and other charges.
- Maintain accurate records of clearing transactions.
- Ensure compliance with import/export laws and regulations.
- Resolve delays or issues in customs clearance and keep internal departments informed.
- Support cost reduction efforts by optimizing logistics and clearance processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in clearing & forwarding, customs brokerage, or import/export logistics.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations and international trade documentation.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding software and online customs clearance systems.
