This full-time position is based in Ifakara, Morogoro, with a key role in managing data for the Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO) and other research databases within the Chronic Diseases Clinic of Ifakara (CDCI) and the Heart and Lung Clinic.

Position Summary
The Data Officer will be instrumental in maintaining data quality and management for key health programs, ensuring compliance with the National AIDS Control Program (NACP) and supporting research efforts. The role involves data processing, reporting, and quality control for KIULARCO and related projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee quality control and assurance of data within the KIULARCO, CDCI, and Heart and Lung Clinic research databases.
- Manage data according to KIULARCO and NACP standards, collaborating closely with the Data Manager.
- Support senior project statisticians in processing and reporting data for various research projects.
- Ensure the accuracy of data entry and extraction for KIULARCO and NACP databases, supervising the data team.
- Address data queries and assist in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting for ongoing KIULARCO projects.
- Contribute to the writing of publications and prepare reports for HIV care/ART for district/national authorities.
- Assist in the maintenance of patient cohorts with chronic heart and lung conditions.
- Participate in journal clubs, quality control sessions, and team training on statistical concepts and data management.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and workshops organized by IHI, the Tanzanian government, and other relevant organizations.
- Support research activities coordinated by IHI and its partners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Experience with database management tools (e.g., SQL, ODK, OpenMRS, REDCap).
- Basic to intermediate programming skills.
- Understanding of data governance, including privacy, security, and quality standards.
- Minimum of two years of experience in data management, preferably in a research environment.
