Position Summary
On behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat is inviting qualified Tanzanians to apply for the role of Executive Director for the Tanzania Commission for AIDS (TACAIDS). This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader to steer a national effort on HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment, and care in Tanzania.
About TACAIDS
Established under the Tanzania Commission for AIDS Act, TACAIDS is an independent body under the Prime Minister’s Office, responsible for coordinating a comprehensive, multi-sectoral response to HIV and AIDS across Tanzania. TACAIDS aims to prevent and control HIV/AIDS through collaboration with stakeholders, policy development, advocacy, and support services.
Position: Executive Director

- Reports to: Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office
- Location: TACAIDS Headquarters, Dodoma, Tanzania
The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, manage daily operations, and ensure efficient use of resources in line with TACAIDS’ mandate. Appointed by the President, the Executive Director will work closely with the Commission and government agencies to fulfill national goals on HIV/AIDS.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HIV/AIDS policies, guidelines, and strategic frameworks.
- Coordinate national and international partnerships for comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care programs.
- Lead resource mobilization, equitable distribution, and monitor budget allocations.
- Advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and ensure human rights protections for affected individuals.
- Facilitate research, foster information sharing, and promote evidence-based practices.
- Represent TACAIDS nationally and internationally, report progress to the Prime Minister’s Office, and advise on policy.
- Maintain compliance with laws and regulations and uphold ethical standards in all activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Public Health, HIV/AIDS, or a related field (a medical background is a plus).
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in HIV/AIDS or public health, with a minimum of 10 years in a senior management role.
- Skills: Strong leadership, strategic planning, resource management, and communication skills. Proficiency in English and Kiswahili is required.

Employment Terms
- Contract: 5 years, renewable based on performance.
- Age Limit: Maximum age 45, unless currently in public service.
