About the Company:
Mwiba Holdings Limited, a leading hospitality company with operations in Arusha, Meatu Simiyu, and Mara Regions, is seeking a qualified Habitat Manager to oversee habitat conservation and wildlife protection in the Maswa-Simiyu region.
Role Summary:
The Habitat Manager will be responsible for managing the concession area, ensuring the protection of wildlife and their habitats, and overseeing infrastructure development and bush clearing activities. The manager will implement day-to-day habitat management tasks in line with the company’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee bush clearing, road rehabilitation, and infrastructure management.
- Collaborate with government institutions to create habitat management plans.
- Monitor environmental changes and identify factors affecting wildlife and habitat quality.
- Implement strategies to protect endangered species and enhance conservation practices.
- Manage water and food sources for wildlife within the protected area.
- Identify and improve damaged vegetation, water sources, and other ecological resources.
- Educate the public and visitors on conservation efforts and the importance of protected areas.
- Design and build conservation structures like fences and nesting boxes.
- Report and monitor areas of environmental concern, including road maintenance and water preservation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- 2+ years of applied experience in habitat management or a similar role.
- Proven track record in team management and task planning.
- GIS experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of legislation on vegetation and invasive species management.
- Strong understanding of indigenous plants, ecological systems, and infrastructure impact.
