Rural Water Supply and Sanitati Agency (RUWASA) was established under Water Supply and Sanitati Act No. 5 of 2019 to coordinate all efforts related to provisi of Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitati Services in rural areas in Tanzania mainland, so as to ctribute to a sustainable socio-ecomic development. Agency is mandated to plan, develop, maintain and manage provisi of reliable water supply and sanitati services. Water Supply and Sanitati Act No.5 of 2019 has also transferred accountability of officers respsible for water service provisis from PO RALG, RSs and LGAs to Ministry of Water. newly established Agency (RUWASA Vacancies) has offices at Headquarters, Regial and District levels as opposed to previous structure which compose of office at LGA’s level and RSs. With its Headquarters in Dodoma, Capital of Tanzania; and having assumed its functis 1st July 2019 RUWASA operates in 25 regis in Tanzania mainland with excepti of Dar Es Salaam. community based water supply organizati (CBWSO) shall be established by agreement of majority members of community and shall be a fully automous corporate body.
