Position Summary:

As a Finance Analyst at CARE Tanzania, you will support the accurate recording of accounting transactions in PeopleSoft, manage treasury functions and cash flow, and ensure timely submission of statutory payments and claims. This role involves liaising with designated banks to ensure smooth operations, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and CARE policies, and contributing to CARE’s financial accountability efforts.

Reports To: Accounts Coordinator


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Transactions: Record accounts payable and receivable, verify supporting documents, and ensure correctness in account coding.
  • Petty Cash Management: Review petty cash requests and liquidation, ensure proper submission.
  • Compliance: Verify non-PO payments, address compliance concerns, and ensure transactions align with CARE policies and donor agreements.
  • Account Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliation of accounts payable/receivable and provide adjustments.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit balance sheet accounts, clear accrued expenses, and conduct month-end closure activities.
  • Treasury Management: Monitor cash flow, manage bank services, and ensure accurate recording of bank fees and monthly reconciliations.
  • Payroll Management: Coordinate with HR for accurate payroll processing, manage payroll to general ledger reconciliation, and ensure timely salary distribution.
  • Statutory Compliance: Record and submit tax and statutory deductions, ensuring adherence to Tanzanian laws.
  • Other Duties: Fulfill any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of finance experience, especially in international NGOs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of internal and external audit requirements.
    • Proficiency with accounting software, preferably PeopleSoft.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing Accounts Payable/Receivable and Treasury.
