JOB VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport, is tasked with the responsibility of managing the maintenance and development of trunk and regional road networks across Mainland Tanzania. Additionally, TANROADS oversees axle load control operations using weighbridge systems.
The Regional Manager of TANROADS in Songwe, acting on behalf of the Chief Executive, seeks qualified Tanzanians to fill various vacant positions on a specified contract basis. These positions are associated with the Upgrading of Isongole II-Kasumulu-Ipyana-Katumba Road Project in Songwe Region. This project includes:
- Isongole II–Ndembo Section (46.5 KM)
- Ndembo–Isoko Spur Road (5.914 KM)
TANROADS is inviting applications for the following roles:
1. Resident Engineer (1 Position)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Registered Professional Engineer with ERB; current practicing certificate required.
- Postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering is advantageous.
- At least 10 years of experience in road and bridge design, supervision, and contract administration.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical and administrative operations on-site.
- Supervise contractors, ensure quality control, and manage project plans.
- Process contractor invoices and prepare progress reports.
- Oversee compliance with environmental and social impact mitigation measures.
2. Materials Engineer (1 Position)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- ERB registration with a practicing license.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in materials testing, geotechnical work, and pavement construction.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise laboratory operations and ensure QA/QC compliance.
- Inspect and approve materials to meet technical standards.
- Monitor calibration of testing equipment and maintain material activity records.
3. Highway Engineer (1 Position)
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil/Highway/Transport Engineering or related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer with ERB.
- 7 years of experience in highway construction, with involvement in at least 3 similar projects.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise road construction projects.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and manage project contracts.
- Monitor adherence to environmental impact mitigation measures.
4. Topographical Surveyor (1 Position)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent.
- Professional registration with NCPS.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in road and bridge surveying.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct surveys and establish legal boundaries.
- Maintain survey records, including maps, elevations, and coordinates.
- Coordinate survey findings with project engineers.
5. Works Inspector – Drainage/Structure (1 Position)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- ERB Graduate Engineer registration.
- At least 3 years of experience in structural inspection.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect drainage works and ensure adherence to technical specifications.
- Maintain daily site diaries and assist in preparing mini-progress reports.
General Terms of Employment:
- Employment Terms: Specified Contract.
- Salary: TANROADS salary scale, inclusive of site allowances as per the incentive policy.
