Role: Field Network Engineer
Job Location: Dar Es Salaam
Reporting to: Head of Technical
Direct Reportees: Network and Infrastructure Manager

Job Objective

The Field Network Engineer is responsible for installing, inspecting, and maintaining infrastructure, conducting surveys, and resolving technical issues efficiently. The role demands a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Configure and install routers (e.g., Mikrotik, Cisco, Juniper).
• Implement Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint links using various radios.
• Conduct base station installations and maintenance.
• Configure and troubleshoot optical fiber links (FTTH) with minimal downtime.
• Design, deploy, and maintain fiber network infrastructure using SDH, DWDM, and MPLS technologies.
• Provide LAN/WAN support and troubleshoot networks for clients.
• Draft and submit reports detailing field activities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience with ISP/MNO.
• Proficiency in configuring routers, switches, and fiber optics infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Fiber Optics, FTTx, GPON, and related concepts.
• Familiarity with SDH/DWDM/MPLS network deployment and maintenance.
• CCNA or MTCNA certification is a must.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Ability to work in adverse conditions, including overtime and weekends.
