Job Summary
The Head of Markets Sales will lead a team of skilled Markets Sales dealers to achieve strategic financial and non-financial goals. Reporting directly to the Director of Global Markets, the role involves high-level stakeholder interaction, market trend analysis, and business development.
This position requires expertise in market dynamics, structured financial products, and sales strategy to drive growth while ensuring regulatory compliance and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Staff Management & Development
- Define and oversee performance goals for the Markets Sales team.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
- Implement training programs to enhance skills and market knowledge.
- Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on professional growth.
2. Business Strategy & Planning
- Develop a Markets Sales Business Plan aligned with Absa’s vision.
- Monitor sales performance, providing insights and solutions to address gaps.
- Work closely with Relationship Managers to identify and capture new business opportunities.
3. Markets Sales & Marketing
- Drive business growth by expanding into new customer segments.
- Develop and implement innovative financial solutions tailored to client needs.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct client workshops and training sessions to enhance market understanding.
4. Business Development & Market Expansion
- Establish strong relationships with corporate clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Develop new financial products and services to maintain a competitive edge.
- Strengthen Absa’s presence in global markets by leveraging financial expertise.
5. Risk Management & Compliance
- Maintain a robust risk and control framework for Markets Sales operations.
- Ensure compliance with banking policies, procedures, and credit limits.
- Lead crisis management efforts in case of market fluctuations or operational challenges.
6. Executive Leadership & Contribution
- Represent Markets Sales in executive meetings and strategic discussions.
- Engage with regulatory authorities, central banks, and financial institutions to influence industry standards.
- Provide market insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Required Skills & Competencies
✔ Proven experience in Global Markets Sales & Treasury operations.
✔ Strong leadership and team management skills.
✔ Expertise in derivatives, structured financial instruments, and risk management.
✔ Solid understanding of market trends, liquidity management, and capital markets.
✔ Advanced negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
✔ Ability to drive business innovation and change management.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
✅ Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
✅ Extensive experience in Global Markets, Treasury, or Investment Banking.
✅ Industry certifications such as ACI, ACT, CFA, or equivalent.
Preferred:
✅ Knowledge of banking products, regulatory frameworks, and risk controls.
✅ Understanding of emerging markets and financial services trends.
✅ Experience in project management and financial technology integration.
