Job Summary
The Light Vehicle Driver will be responsible for safely transporting goods and personnel while ensuring the assigned vehicle is maintained in excellent condition and adheres to AIRD’s standard operating procedures, policies, and traffic regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Transportation
- Safely operate the assigned vehicle for official travel.
- Ensure the vehicle is secure, clean, and well-maintained.
- Adhere to AIRD safety rules, transportation guidelines, and traffic regulations.
- Safeguard vehicle equipment, tools, and first aid kits.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Regularly check oil, water, brake fluid, tire pressure, battery levels, and overall vehicle condition.
- Monitor fuel consumption and arrange for refueling.
- Report vehicle malfunctions and arrange for minor repairs.
- Clean the vehicle’s interior and exterior regularly.
- Maintain proper documentation of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately complete vehicle logbooks and other required documentation.
- Report any accidents, vehicle damage, or theft immediately.
- Ensure monthly vehicle maintenance reports are recorded.
Other Duties
- Prevent unauthorized persons or cargo from accessing the vehicle.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or higher.
- Driving Course Certificate from a recognized institution (e.g., VETA or NIT). Advanced Driver’s Certificate (Grade Two) is a plus.
- Valid driving license certified by the Tanzania Police Force-Traffic Division.
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience in a reputable organization.
- Previous experience with humanitarian organizations (NGOs) is an added advantage.
Additional Requirements
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
- Strong driving skills, including defensive driving techniques.
- Knowledge of traffic rules, occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
