Organizational Setting
This position is based in the ILO Country Office in Dar es Salaam, covering Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. The ILO strives to promote decent work, social justice, and internationally recognized human and labour rights. The Programme Assistant will support the implementation of ILO projects and initiatives in collaboration with the government, social partners, and international organizations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and preparing work programs and project initiatives.
- Monitor project proposals, documentation, and compliance with rules and guidelines.
- Compile, summarize, and present data related to budgets, staffing, and project deliverables.
- Input data into the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, ensuring delivery status and allocations are up to date.
- Follow up on administrative actions and submissions such as terms of reference (TOR) and fund confirmations.
- Provide administrative support for organizing events like workshops and seminars.
- Maintain databases, prepare reports, briefing notes, and statistical summaries.
- Respond to requests for general information on project-related matters.
- Provide general office management support, including attending meetings and drafting correspondence.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Completion of secondary school education, with a diploma or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, economics, political science, international relations, or related fields being desirable.
- Experience: At least five years of office support work experience, including programme and budget support and project administration. Experience with an ERP system and working with UN organizations or international agencies is preferred.
- Languages: Excellent command of English and Kiswahili.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Knowledge of programme and project administration and results-based management (RBM).
- Good knowledge of PC software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to interpret and work within applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior.

Salary: Entry-level salary is 51,835,000 Tanzanian Shillings per year.
