Background

Amref Health Africa-Tanzania is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving health systems and empowering communities. In partnership with the BAND Foundation and UCB, Amref is implementing the Enhancing Epilepsy Care in Africa-Tanzania (EECA) Project. This initiative aims to reduce the stigma and burden of epilepsy and other neurological disorders, improving the quality of life for affected individuals and their families in Dodoma region, specifically in Bahi and Chamwino Districts.


Position Summary

The Project Manager will lead the implementation of the EECA project, ensuring alignment with Amref’s objectives and donor guidelines. This role involves managing stakeholder engagement, overseeing project activities, and providing technical support to enhance service delivery in primary health facilities.


Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Oversee daily project operations, ensuring objectives are met in line with Amref and donor policies.
  • Provide technical guidance to align project activities with Ministry of Health (MOH) priorities.
  • Develop and implement work plans and budgets in accordance with donor-approved guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with financial management and governance standards.
  • Monitor project achievements and deliverables.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships at regional and national levels.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop and implement a robust MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) framework.
  • Guide M&E activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Lead the creation of knowledge products and promote continuous learning to inform epilepsy care efforts.

Supervisory Roles

  • Manage and mentor project staff, promoting adherence to Amref policies and fostering professional development.
  • Ensure operational compliance and high-performance standards among team members.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Communication, or Social Sciences is required.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of project management experience, with a focus on public health and epilepsy interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with MOH, PORALG, RHMT, and CHMT.
  • Proven ability to work in teams and manage partnerships at multiple levels.

Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in English and Swahili.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
