Job Overview

NMB Bank Plc is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Coverage Manager SME – Kariakoo Business to drive the growth of SME loans and deposits in the Kariakoo Business Area. This role is responsible for portfolio expansion, business strategy, and guiding Relationship Managers/Officers to enhance NMB’s penetration in this key commercial hub.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Portfolio Growth

• Drive the sales of SME loans and deposit mobilization across branches, business centers, and hubs in Kariakoo.
• Evaluate SME credit applications that require senior management review and provide informed recommendations.
• Guide Relationship Managers/Officers in expanding the asset book and increasing SME deposits.
• Develop appropriate financial structures and pricing strategies in collaboration with Relationship/Business Managers.

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

• Advise the Head of Department on business banking strategies to enhance market growth.
• Lead the mentorship and capacity-building of Relationship Managers and Officers to drive business performance.
• Prepare budgets and financial projections for SME business growth in the Kariakoo area, including potential client pipelines.

Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Management

• Ensure effective collaboration with Credit, Risk, and Operations teams to maintain a high-quality SME portfolio.
• Monitor and evaluate business performance, ensuring PAR & NPL levels remain within acceptable risk limits.
• Represent NMB Bank in customer forums, networking events, and business engagements to strengthen relationships.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong credit and financial analysis skills for SME lending.
• In-depth understanding of the Tanzanian banking sector and SME market dynamics.
• Proven ability to develop business strategies and drive SME portfolio growth.
• Excellent customer relationship management and knowledge of SME banking products.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access).
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
• Effective communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, or related fields.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Banking or Corporate Banking.
• At least 3 years of experience in Credit Analysis.
