Position Purpose

The Senior Mining Engineer will provide technical support for mining operations, both on-site and off-site, focusing on interpreting mining physicals, analyzing site costs, and collaborating with clients’ technical service teams. The role also includes project coordination, scheduling, and cost management to ensure efficient mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mining Operations Management:

• Oversee daily mining operations to ensure smooth execution.
• Manage site operations, ensuring mining physicals meet contractual schedules.
• Supervise mining teams to achieve operational targets.
• Monitor production and provide monthly performance reports.
• Prepare and submit monthly mining progress claims.

2. Technical Services and Reporting:

• Analyze mining physicals and costs.
• Design and implement reporting templates using MinRep, Deswick, and Surpac software.
• Act as the main liaison between the client and site management.

3. Safety, Compliance, and Quality Assurance:

• Ensure adherence to HS&E policies, Mines Safety Regulations, and risk assessments.
• Maintain safety equipment and report hazards immediately.
• Implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising production and quality.

4. Team Development and Training:

• Train and mentor graduate and vocational engineers.
• Assess mining conditions and recommend improvements.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Ensure client requirements are met contractually.
• Foster positive relationships with clients and ensure compliance with variations and management plans.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ site-based experience in a mining environment, with expertise in open-pit and underground mining.

Skills:

• Proficiency in MinRep, Deswick, and Surpac software.
• Strong knowledge of mining operations design and optimization.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with site employees and clients.
• Proven ability to manage mining costs and prepare monthly progress claims.
• Commitment to safety and risk management.

Licensing:

• Valid Tanzania Driver’s License.

Membership:

• Membership in a relevant professional body is preferred.
