Role Overview

The Systems Administrator will play a pivotal role in managing IT systems across our head office and branches. This position involves system supervision, monitoring performance, configuring new software and hardware, and resolving escalated IT support issues. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and scalability while minimizing operational disruptions.


Key Responsibilities

System Administration & IT Support

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize Watu’s IT systems, ensuring seamless performance and security.
  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network infrastructure across multiple branches.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated IT issues efficiently within defined SLAs.
  • Conduct system upgrades, installations, and regular performance analyses.
  • Oversee data backup and restoration processes, ensuring high availability and business continuity.
  • Implement and document system changes, ensuring proper logging and user training.

Network & Security Management

  • Administer and secure the company’s network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor system security and implement measures to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and system vulnerability assessments.

Call Center & IT Equipment Support

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the call center system, ensuring optimal performance and integration.
  • Manage the maintenance and servicing of IT equipment such as printers, scanners, and peripherals.

Policy Implementation & Compliance

  • Develop, review, and enforce IT policies and procedures aligned with best practices and organizational goals.
  • Conduct system assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for IT policies, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

Project & Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with business teams and the IT Manager to implement new IT solutions and process improvements.
  • Participate in IT projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate IT-related training sessions for employees.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Incident Resolution: 100% adherence to SLA response and resolution times.
  • System Uptime: Maintain 99.9% system availability.
  • Backup & Security: 100% backup success rate with regular restoration testing.
  • Project Management: Deliver IT projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT administration or a similar role.
  • At least 3 years managing call center solutions.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux servers, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and virtualization tools (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in network infrastructure setup, troubleshooting, and security configurations.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, MS Server, and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Jira, GitLab, Spiceworks) is an advantage.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
