The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, on behalf of the National Museum of Tanzania (NMT), is inviting dynamic and qualified Tanzanian applicants to apply for 16 vacant positions in various fields.

About the National Museum of Tanzania (NMT)

The National Museum of Tanzania (NMT) is a scientific, educational, and cultural institution, established under the National Museum Act No. 7 of 1980. The NMT is dedicated to preserving, researching, and promoting Tanzania’s rich cultural and natural heritage. Through various programs, exhibitions, and publications, NMT shares knowledge with the public and fosters education and cultural understanding. Headquartered at Shaaban Robert Street in Dar es Salaam, NMT operates seven museum stations and manages multiple monuments across six zones in Tanzania.

Available Positions

  1. Museum Attendant II (3 Posts)
    • Responsibilities: Maintain cleanliness, monitor visitor movements, assist in tours, and ensure the security of collections.
    • Qualifications: Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) with passes in Kiswahili and English, plus a certificate in Hospitality, Customer Service, Heritage Management, or Tour Guiding.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 2
  2. Conservator II – Museum Conservation (2 Posts)
    • Responsibilities: Assist in examining, restoring, and maintaining museum collections.
    • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, or Palaeontology.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 6
  3. Conservator II – Monuments and Sites (2 Posts)
    • Responsibilities: Field data collection, analysis, and report preparation, among other duties.
    • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Geology, or Heritage Management.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 6
  4. Curator II – Zoology (1 Post)
    • Responsibilities: Assist in collection, documentation, conservation, and display of zoological museum collections.
    • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, Botany, or Aquatic Sciences.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 6
  5. Curator II – History (2 Posts)
    • Responsibilities: Assist in acquiring and preserving historical museum collections, documentation, and public education.
    • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in History.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 6
  6. Curator II – Education (1 Post)
    • Responsibilities: Assist in managing educational collections, public education kits, and exhibitions.
    • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a focus on History.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 6
  7. Research Assistant II – Zoology (1 Post)
    • Responsibilities: Assist in field data collection, analysis, and reporting for zoological research.
    • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, with at least an Upper Second Class or B+ grade.
    • Salary Scale: PRSS 1
  8. Research Officer II – Art and Design (1 Post)
    • Responsibilities: Conduct research, data entry, analysis, and manuscript preparation related to Art and Design.
    • Qualifications: Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Art and Design, with at least an Upper Second Class or B+ grade.
    • Salary Scale: PRSS 2
  9. Research Officer II – Architecture (1 Post)
    • Responsibilities: Perform architectural research and supervise research projects.
    • Qualifications: Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Architecture, with an Upper Second Class or B+ grade.
    • Salary Scale: PRSS 2
  10. Artisan II – Plumbing (2 Posts)
    • Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance, repair work, and installations of water systems.
    • Qualifications: CSEE/ACSEE plus Trade Test Certificate in Plumbing.
    • Salary Scale: PGSS 2

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens, with an age not exceeding 45 years, except for those in Public Service.
