About UMATI:
UMATI, established in 1959, is an autonomous National NGO dedicated to providing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) education, information, and services in Tanzania. As a full member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), UMATI partners with the Ministry of Health and various governmental bodies to deliver Family Planning (FP) services, SRHR programs for young people, and community-based services across Tanzania.

Job Purpose:
The Project Driver is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient transport for staff, clients, and materials. This includes vehicle maintenance, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with traffic laws. The driver will support project activities and ensure that vehicles are in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow predetermined routes and schedules, adapting to road and traffic conditions as necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers and secure transport of project materials.
  • Perform regular vehicle inspections, report issues to the supervisor, and maintain the vehicle in a clean and operational condition.
  • Drive staff for official activities and transport clients or packages as required.
  • Research traffic, construction, and weather conditions to plan routes.
  • Interact with clients professionally and ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for use.
  • Arrange vehicle repairs when needed and report technical problems.
  • Maintain a daily vehicle log book to record all movements.
  • Dispatch letters and other documents as needed.
  • Ensure the safety of vehicles, passengers, and tools.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Have a Certificate of Secondary School Education Examination (Form IV).
  • Valid and clean Driver’s license (Class C) with at least 2 years of driving experience.
  • Experience in cine bus driving is an added advantage.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent navigation skills and proficiency with navigation applications.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
  • Customer care skills with a commitment to UMATI’s mission and values.
