Project Overview:
The Leveraging Community Systems to Optimize Maternal-Child Nutrition project focuses on reducing childhood stunting and improving adolescent nutrition in Mbeya and Njombe regions. By strengthening community systems that support nutritious diets and optimal nutrition behaviors, this project is crucial in advancing the health and well-being of vulnerable communities. As part of this project, CRS seeks to hire two Project Interns – Nutrition who will assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.

Role Summary:
The Project Intern – Nutrition will play an essential role in supporting all project activities, ensuring that interventions are carried out effectively, and maintaining accurate documentation. You will work closely with Local Government Authorities, community workers, and other stakeholders to implement and monitor activities aligned with the project’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Project Activities: Collaborate with the project team to implement agriculture interventions and nutrition activities at regional and council levels, as per the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
  • Training and Capacity Building: Assist in organizing and conducting workshops, orientations, and training sessions for frontline workers, community-based support systems, and beneficiaries.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of project activities, ensuring data is collected and reported accurately and on time.
  • Documentation: Prepare and assist with field reports, compile project data, and ensure that all documentation for reporting is accurate and submitted as required.
  • Community Engagement: Maintain strong communication with community leaders, local stakeholders, and other partners to ensure the smooth implementation of activities.
  • Supportive Supervision: Assist with follow-up visits to frontline community workers, ensuring the effective implementation of project activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Community Development, Public Health, Nutrition, or related field, with graduation between 2022 and 2024.
  • Experience in community-based health or nutrition programs is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Swahili and a good working knowledge of English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with relevant software applications and data analysis tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural project sites.
