Embassy of Ireland in Dar es Salaam is recruiting for position of Properties Management Officer. This position will form part of Embassy of Ireland Administration Team and will hold responsibility for maintaining and upgrading properties of Embassy of Ireland.

Mission: Our mission is to promote and protect abroad values, interests, and economic well-being of Ireland and its people. We do this under political direction of our Ministers, through our staff at home and through our Embassy network abroad.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure health and safety of staff by adherence to Embassy safety guidelines.
  • Ensure properties and facilities are well maintained and are in good condition.
  • Prepare for and respond to emergency issues that arise, which breach safety, security, or usability of facilities.
  • Schedule routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors when required.
  • Oversee building projects and renovations.
  • Create reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and or occurrences for supervisors and or relevant staff.
  • Maintain records of utility usage (generator, solar installation, electricity, and water).
  • Ensure that contracts with service providers for office equipment maintenance, supply of goods (consumables), and services are operational and that quality of services is delivered.
  • Manage transport and logistics.
  • Manage maintenance and supplies for Embassy vehicle fleet.
  • Monitor correct usage of vehicles in line with Embassy policies.
  • Assist Embassy as a back-up driver during busy periods.

Note: Properties Management Officer will have access to an Embassy vehicle in course of daily duties.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • An Advanced Level Certificate of Education or Diploma.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, electricity, and or building systems.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in a similar field and setting requiring a high standard of outputs.
  • Ability to drive and possess a clean driving licence Class C.

Essential Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to develop effective working relationships with people at all levels and different cultures, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to use email and software packages e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to manage time, organise, problem solve and prioritise work schedules.
  • Ability to use repair tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time.
  • Ability to act with utmost integrity and pursue work in an ethical manner.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with or Embassies or international organisations, reputable hotels, serviced properties, or companies.
  • Terms and Conditions of Employment:
  • successful candidate will be hired on a fixed-term contractual basis for 12 months, including a probationary period, and will be based at Embassy of Ireland, Dar es Salaam.
  • Competitive salary of TSH 2,529,950 per month and TSH 32,889,348 annually, including a 13th month, plus health insurance and training opportunities.
  • Salaries are tax-deducted and paid directly to a bank account.
