Ifakara Health Institute seeks a qualified Research Officer Intern who will be respsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating and managing patients with HIV and or TB in in- and outpatient facilities at St. Francis Regial Referral Hospital (SFRRH). Intern will be required to deliver improved services in collaborati with hospital, government authorities, and health implementing partners. Research Officer will supervise and train younger colleagues diagnostic workup and management of patients and collaborate within existing research platform of Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO). y will also be encouraged to develop ir own research agenda and research project(s).
- Treat PLHIV and/or TB according to Natial Guidelines for Clinical Management of HIV/AIDS and TB, Standard Treatment Guidelines, and Local Guidelines.
- Supervise and train younger medical doctors and clinical officers in diagnosis and management of patients with HIV and/or TB.
- Diagnose and treat Opportunistic Infectis (OI) and/or referral to appropriate departments.
- Maintain proper patient documentati, filling of case report forms (CRF) including CTC 1/2.
- Csultati and ward rounds to PLHIV admitted to different departments at SFRRH.
- Work in full agreement with job descriptis; Chric Diseases Clinic of Ifakara (CDCI), hospital and government (MOH) regulatis.
- Provide health educati and adherence counseling to PLHIV and clients attending CDCI.
- Attend all compulsory meetings such every Mday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at CDCI and Friday 07.30-9.00 at SFRRH clinical hall.
- Attend scientific meetings at IHI.
- Ctribute in planning, coordinati, and performance of research activities/studies organized by IHI and or partners
- Perform any additial task assigned by PL and/or site director of IHI and/or director general of SFRRH when necessary.
- Bachelor Degree in Medicine (MD).
- Certificate of internship
- Registrati to Medical Council of Tanganyika (or applicati in progress).
- Experience in HIV/TB patients, or a certificate with relevant experience.
- Fluent in both Swahili and English language.
- Interest in TB/HIV.
- High motivati for research activities.
- Excellent interpersal skills and a collaborative management style.
- Capable of building and sustaining relatiships with junior and senior professials.
- Interest in training of younger staff.
- Professial attitude to work and clear work ethics.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Result oriented.
