Job Description
As an Information Security Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding ASAMTL’s digital infrastructure. This position involves identifying and mitigating IT risks, enhancing compliance with security controls, and responding effectively to incidents. The role demands expertise in cybersecurity, technical acumen, and a proactive approach to maintaining a secure IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Operations Monitoring: Serve as a key member of the Security Operation Centre (SOC), optimizing security tools to ensure data protection.
- Cybersecurity Event Response: Monitor and analyze cybersecurity incidents, providing effective incident response (IR).
- Threat Analysis: Detect and analyze security threats through behavior analysis and threat intelligence-based detection.
- Log Data Analysis: Investigate anomalies by performing data mining of log sources, enhancing detection rules and policies.
- Incident Communication: Manage security incident communications, from initial reports to resolution.
- Security Advisory: Provide threat and vulnerability analysis, offering advisory services to strengthen security.
- Policy Development: Create a comprehensive security program, including gap assessments, standards, and training.
- Collaborative Security Measures: Work with management and IT teams to develop and implement enhanced security protocols.
- Documentation and Reporting: Investigate and report security breaches, emerging trends, and incident impact assessments.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background:
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related IT field.
- Certifications:
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer certification (MANDATORY).
- Additional certifications such as CEH, CCNA Security, or CompTIA Security+ are highly preferred.
- Work Experience:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in information security, focusing on incident detection and response.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in tools and frameworks like SIEM, TCP/IP, IDS/IPS, penetration testing, SQL, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX), network protocols, and packet analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Security Threats:
- In-depth understanding of attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and common exploits.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal abilities.
- Proactive and adaptable to shifting priorities, with a self-starter attitude.
