Background of the Role

The Project Manager will oversee the relocation of the WFP Tanzania Country Office to the new UN Common Premises in Dar es Salaam. This role requires technical expertise, financial oversight, and efficient coordination with multiple stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.


Key Deliverables

  • Develop a comprehensive analysis of the office relocation project, providing recommendations for effective decision-making.
  • Prepare and update the project budget, covering office setup costs, furniture, equipment, and all other related expenses.
  • Coordinate procurement processes with relevant units for furniture, equipment, and security systems.
  • Work with UNDSS and RBJ Security on security requirements and procurement.
  • Collaborate with Country Office units and HQ for submission of necessary documentation (e.g., CBF, business cases).
  • Assess new office premises for compliance with WFP standards, including seismic, fire safety, and Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) protocols.
  • Conduct site visits and verify compliance with contractual agreements and design requirements.
  • Oversee disposal processes for assets and inventories in line with WFP policies.
  • Align facility data between GEMS and ARCHIBUS systems.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to Country Office management.
  • Offer guidance on new office facility management and review administration SOPs for alignment with current policies.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • University degree in Business/Public Administration, Engineering, Real Estate, or a related field relevant to office management and administration.

Experience

  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in real estate management.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of administrative, budgetary, and financial procedures.
  • Ability to interpret United Nations administrative rules and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills to formulate recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities, with attention to time and resource management.
  • High levels of professionalism and integrity.

Language

  • Fluency in English is required.
