Job Overview

NMB Bank Plc is seeking a Trade Operations Officer to support the administration and operations of Trade Finance Products while ensuring efficiency, compliance, and adherence to regulatory requirements. This role involves risk management, transaction handling, and process optimization to facilitate smooth trade finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Finance Administration & Risk Management

• Develop weekly, quarterly, and monthly work plans to ensure timely achievement of objectives.
• Monitor key risk indicators and escalate issues promptly to mitigate potential risks.
• Ensure strict adherence to the delegated authority matrix during transaction handling and processing.
• Conduct AML checks and transaction screenings before submission, supported by an AML checklist.

Transaction Processing & Compliance

• Verify valid and approved customer facility letters for LC, Guarantees, Trade Loans, and other trade products before processing.
• Ensure trade finance entries, reconciliations, and end-of-month reports are accurately reviewed and processed.
• Manage trade product operations by following the Operations Manual and Process Maps to ensure compliance.
• Review and process all trade finance-related inward and outward SWIFT messages on a daily basis.
• Monitor maturity reports for trade finance products such as LC Bills, Import LC, Bank Guarantees, and Trade Loans to ensure timely settlement and closure.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of Trade Finance Products and their operational terms.
• In-depth knowledge of international trade operations, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Awareness of risks associated with Trade Finance, AML compliance, KYC, and financial crime prevention.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in transaction monitoring and financial consumer protection regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CITF, CPA, or CPB is an added advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience in Trade Finance operations.
• Prior experience in Banking Operations, particularly in payments, is preferred.
