The Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO – RALG) through the Global Partnership for Education Teacher Support Programme (GPE – TSP) is implementing various interventions including coordinating the engagement of volunteer teachers. Through this project, OWMO – RALGM is advertising volunteer positions for 1,500 teachers of Secondary Schools under Local Government Authorities with the greatest need in accordance with the Secondary Teacher Allocation Protocol (S – TAP). OWMO – RALGM through the GPE – TSP project invites qualified Tanzanians to submit applications for one thousand five hundred (1,500) Volunteer Teaching positions as specified in this advertisement. These positions are targeted at teachers of Science and Technology (STEM), Vocational Subjects and Business Studies.
The general responsibilities of the volunteer teaching position, qualifications of applicants and the number of positions are specified below:-
General Duties of a Volunteer Teacher
- Prepare work plans, lesson plans, lesson notes and
- Work Plan of other assigned tasks;
- Develop and maintain teaching and learning tools;
- Teach, conduct Assessment and maintain records of Student Development;
- Supervise and monitor student attendance in School and Classroom;
- Supervise students’ mental, physical, spiritual development and provide counseling and guidance;
- Provide professional advice and expertise on educational development;
- Manage and maintain School equipment and assets;
- Perform other duties assigned by the Principal in accordance with the School’s responsibilities
Volunteer Teacher of Physics – Position 504
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Education with a teaching subject in Physics from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Non-Teacher/Education Degree with a teaching subject in Physics plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Teaching Diploma with a teaching subject in Physics from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education.
Volunteer Teacher of Chemistry – Position 246
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Education with a teaching subject in Chemistry from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Non-Teaching/Education Degree with Chemistry as a teaching subject plus
Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or - Teaching Diploma with Chemistry as a teaching subject from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education.
Volunteer Teacher of Biology – Position 332
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Education with a teaching subject in Biology from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Non-Teacher/Education Degree with a teaching subject in Biology plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Teaching Diploma with a teaching subject in Biology from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education.
Volunteer Teacher of Mathematics – Position 418
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Education with a teaching subject in Mathematics from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Non-Teacher/Education Degree with a teaching subject in Mathematics plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education; or
- Teaching Diploma with a teaching subject in Mathematics from a Government-recognized Institution of Higher Education.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR JOB APPLICANTS
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen with a National Identity Card (NIDA) and not exceeding 43 years of age;
- Must attach a copy of Birth Certificate, Education and Qualification Certificates;
- Must be willing to work in Secondary Schools with a high need for teachers;
- Must not be an Employee of the Government or any other Institution;
- Must not have been dismissed or retired from the Public Service for misconduct;
- Applicants must attach all the documents required in the system; and
- All applicants who completed their Secondary Education abroad are required to obtain an
Equivalent Number starting with the letters EQ… from the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
