The proposed project by Mkojera Company Limited seeks to implement a transformative

Poultry Production Program under the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Livelihood

Restoration Program-Poultry Services (LRP-4). This initiative is designed to empower ProjectAffected Households (PAHs) across 231 villages in eight regions. The goal of the project is to support PAHs in improving and diversifying their livelihoods by increasing food sources and generating household income through small-scale and sustainable poultry production. The project seeks to enhance household productivity, profitability, and resilience, thereby promoting livelihood stability and improving nutritional standards for project-affected households.

To achieve the program goal, the applicants will be required to work closely with Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs), EACOP field teams, Project-Affected Households (PAHs), vulnerable PAHs, and other stakeholders. The applicants should possess a hard-working spirit, be ethical, committed to community development, adhere to the code of conduct, and be willing to comply with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE ) requirements.

JOB TITLE: Field Officer – Poultry Production (14 Position)

PROGRAM: Poultry Production

DUTY STATION: Field Base (assigned zones within the district/regions)

REPORTS TO: Zonal Training and Coordination Lead

ASSIGNMENT TYPE: Consultancy

LOCATION: Kahama, Igunga, Nzega, Kondoa, Singida, Iramba, Mkalama, Chemba.

Purpose of the Role

To provide extension services, technical support, and field-level implementation of poultry production interventions across assigned communities. The Field Officer ensures Community Animal Helath workers(CAHWS) and smallholder PAHs adopt improved poultry husbandry practices, deliver quality data, and achieve program production targets, along Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, and strict adherence to the code of ethics.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Extension Activities

  • Act as the frontline extension officer for poultry farmers, providing routine advisory services and hands-on technical assistance.
  • Conduct scheduled household and on-farm visits to diagnose production challenges and provide practical solutions.
  • Deliver one-on-one coaching and mentorship to promote the adoption of improved technologies and best practices.
  • Work closely with government livestock extension officers to ensure coordinated service delivery at the village and ward levels.

Technical Poultry Training & Capacity Building

  • Conduct training on poultry housing, brooding, feeding, health care, and biosecurity.
  • Train PAHs on the basics of improved poultry production and management.
  • Encourage proper record-keeping and a “farming as a business” mindset.

Field Implementation & Monitoring

  • Distribute chicks, feeds, vaccines, and equipment, and monitor utilization.
  • Track flock performance (growth, mortality, egg/bird output) and early warning signs of disease.
  • Report technical issues and respond promptly to emerging challenges.

PAHs Mobilization & Group Strengthening

  • Mobilize and organize beneficiaries into Poultry Producer Groups.
  • Facilitate group meetings, exposure visits, exchange learning, and peer-to-peer support.
  • Strengthen group leadership and governance.

Market and Input Linkages

  • Link PAHs to service providers and input suppliers (e.g. hatcheries, feed mills, agro-vet shops).
  • Support aggregation and collective marketing of products.
  • Promote commercialization and enterprise growth.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Collect accurate field data on training, production, and inputs.
  • Document case studies, success stories, and lessons learned.
  • Submit timely daily/weekly/monthly reports to the Zonal Coordinator.

Coordination & Representation

  • Liaise with village leaders, livestock officers, NGOs, and partners.
  • Represent the program during local events, visits, and stakeholder forums.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and operational procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in animal health, animal science, livestock production, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (both written and spoken) is essential; fluency in other local languages, such as Maa, Kisukuma, Taturu, and others, is essential.
  • Strong experience working with rural households.
  • Strong practical knowledge of poultry production.
  • Experience working with rural smallholders.
