
The Tanzania Teachers’ Union (CWT) is a workers’ union representing the teaching profession, operating exclusively on Mainland Tanzania. The union is registered under Employment and Labour Relations Act No. 6 of 2004, with registration number 004. CWT employs permanent staff across all regions to provide better services to its members. To strengthen its human resources, several job vacancies have been announced as follows:
1. INFORMATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (1 Position)
Responsibilities:
- Collect and write news for the union.
- Take photographs and prepare photo exhibitions for institutional events.
- Prepare magazines, brochures, and banners.
- Maintain the union’s photo archive and library records.
- Follow up and respond to issues raised against the union.
- Organize interviews between union leaders and the media.
- Provide updates to the media with the supervisor’s approval.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Proficiency in both Swahili and English.
- Computer literacy.
- Awareness of teachers’ and workers’ union issues.
2. ACCOUNTANT (2 Positions)
Responsibilities:
- Manage all financial activities.
- Prepare quarterly, semi-annual, and annual accounts.
- Process approved payments.
- Supervise and verify financial records.
- Respond to audit queries.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- A Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business with a focus on Accounting is an added advantage.
3. INTERNAL AUDITOR (1 Position)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular, special, technical, and investigative audits.
- Follow up on the implementation of internal audit recommendations.
- Assess internal control systems and risk management.
- Prepare internal audit reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting with CPA (T).
- At least three years of work experience.
- Proficiency in Swahili and English.
4. SECRETARY (17 Positions)
Responsibilities:
- Type various documents for the union.
- Manage office records as directed.
- Receive and guide office visitors.
- Handle office communications and maintain confidentiality.
- Keep the office clean.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Certificate (NTA Level 5) or Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Secretarial Studies recognized by NACTE.
- Completed at least Form Four education.
- Computer and internet proficiency.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged 45 or below.
- Attach a birth certificate.
- Provide a detailed CV.
- Include copies of academic certificates, Form Four and Form Six certificates, and relevant training certificates.
- Attach one recent passport-sized photo with your name written on the back.
- Applicants educated outside Tanzania must have certificates verified by TCU or NECTA.
- Retired public servants are ineligible unless they have clearance from the Chief Secretary.
- Providing false information or forged certificates will lead to legal action.
