The USAID NextGen Ugavi Bora, Afya Bora activity is dedicated to improving access to essential health commodities through robust public health supply chain management. This project focuses on capacity building, sustainability, and innovation, ensuring access to quality pharmaceuticals and effective health commodity distribution.

Role Overview

As a Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the implementation and optimization of Supply Chain Information Systems (SCIS), such as the electronic Logistics Management Information System (eLMIS). Working alongside stakeholders—including the Ministry of Health (MOH), regional administrators, and IT teams—you will align business processes with project goals to create impactful solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Requirements Development & Documentation

  • Engage stakeholders to create detailed user requirements, including business process mapping, use case development, and technical specifications.
  • Host workshops with subject matter experts to ensure requirements align with project objectives.

System Optimization & Maintenance

  • Oversee and manage system backlogs (bugs, feature requests, and updates) using tools like JIRA or Confluence.
  • Evaluate and implement strategies to enhance eLMIS functionality and system performance.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Foster relationships with local and global stakeholders, ensuring alignment with OpenLMIS features and global best practices.
  • Strengthen system integrations with health facility systems (e.g., GoTHOMIS, Afya HMIS) using Health Information Exchange platforms.

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Develop test plans and collaborate with developers to ensure system updates meet technical requirements.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to deliver seamless and high-functioning systems.

Training & Capacity Building

  • Create and maintain system documentation, including user manuals and training resources.
  • Conduct interactive training sessions to empower end-users and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Act as a technical advisor on analytics and SCIS initiatives.
  • Deliver presentations, participate in forums, and submit detailed project reports.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Business Management, or related fields (advanced degrees preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years in eLMIS, DHIS2, HMIS, or similar systems.
    • Proven track record working with the MOH or health programs.
    • Strong familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in UI mockup tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Gliffy).
    • Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Health Information Exchange platforms.
    • Comprehensive experience in business process mapping and technical documentation.
  • Other Competencies:
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
    • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Preferred: Prior experience with USAID-funded projects.
