EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 

Background 

We are a growing courier and logistics company committed to providing  reliable, timely, and secure delivery services across Tanzania. As we expand our  operations, we seek a highly motivated and experienced Logistics and  Operations Coordinator to oversee our daily logistics functions and lead  operational improvements. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management,  transport logistics, and operations planning. He/She should possess excellent  leadership skills, be result-oriented, and able to manage multiple teams and  processes efficiently. Experience in the courier, transport, or logistics sector is  essential. 

As part of implementation of our Strategy, we would like to recruit a competent  Tanzanian to fill the vacancy of Logistic and Operations Coordinator in our  offices in Dar es Salaam -Tanzania. 

Overall Responsibility: 

The Logistics and Operations Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing  and managing the overall supply chain, logistics operations, and courier delivery  services. This includes planning, implementing, and monitoring logistics  strategies to ensure efficient movement, storage, and delivery of goods. The role  ensures timely dispatch and receipt of consignments, manages fleet operations,  coordinates with couriers and clients, and ensures compliance with company  standards, safety regulations, and customer expectations. 

They will also be responsible for supervising logistics staff, improving  operational systems, managing budgets related to transportation and  warehousing, and ensuring the company maintains high service levels while  optimizing costs. 

Duties and responsibilities of the employee: 

  1. Plan and oversee logistics operations – including transportation,  warehousing, and distribution of goods and parcels; 
  2. Supervise day-to-day delivery operations – ensuring timely pick-up  and drop-off of consignments;
  3. Fleet and route management – monitor vehicle usage, fuel  consumption, and plan efficient delivery routes; 
  4. Staff management – supervise and coordinate drivers, warehouse  staff, and logistics team; 
  5. Ensure regulatory compliance – with transport, safety, customs, and  courier service laws; 
  6. Inventory and warehouse management – ensure accurate tracking of  goods in transit and storage; 
  7. Monitor and control budgets – related to logistics operations and  propose cost-saving measures; 
  8. Improve operational systems and processes – for better productivity  and customer service; 
  9. Handle client communication and complaints – ensuring high  customer satisfaction; 
  10. Report preparation – generate operational reports for management,  including delivery metrics and incident tracking; 
  11. Coordinate with external partners – such as shipping agents,  government agencies, and suppliers; and 
  12. Any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. 

Key Qualifications and Experience: 

  1. Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management,  Business Administration, Transport Management, Sales and  Marketing or related field. 
  • A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CILT, APICS)  is an added advantage. 
  1. Experience: 
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain, or  courier operations. 
  • Proven track record in managing transport operations,  warehousing, and distribution. 
  • Experience with fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and  route optimization. 
  1. Key Skills: 
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities. 
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills. 
  • Good knowledge of logistics software and Microsoft Office tools. Understanding of local and international courier regulations. Strong communication and negotiation skills. 
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
  1. Other Requirements: 
  • High integrity and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work long hours and under tight deadlines. 
  • Familiarity with Tanzanian road transport and delivery network is  a plus. 
  • Valid driver’s license is an added advantage.

  • Communication: Clear communication with staff, suppliers, and  clients.

  • Decision-Making: Sound judgment in making operational decisions  under pressure. 
  • Financial Acumen: Managing budgets, cost control, and financial  planning. 
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with logistics software, ERP  systems, and data analysis tools. 
  • Customer Focus: Ensuring customer satisfaction by timely and  efficient delivery. 
  • Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of relevant laws, safety standards,  and industry regulations. 
  • Ability to proactively work independently with minimum supervision,  and as an effective team member.
