Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung Africa are currently implementing projects in Ethiopia, Uganda and  Tanzania. 

For its head office in the South, Tanzania, HRNS is recruiting a Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator. 

Purpose of the position  

  • The M&E Coordinator – South is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the HRNS Tanzania  M&E system in the Southern zone.
  • The role focuses on ensuring accurate and timely data collection,  validation, and reporting from the field, and providing operational support to the national M&E unit. 

Roles and responsibilities  

Coordinate M&E  

  • Implement the HRNS Tanzania M&E system in the Southern zone, following national  guidelines, donor requirements, and the global HRNS M&E framework.
  • Support the roll-out of tools, procedures, and systems for data collection and ensure  that South field teams apply them consistently.
  • Supervise data collection in the field, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and  timeliness.
  • Support donor reporting.
  • Conduct regular data quality assurance (DQA) and share reports.
  • Conduct routine data validation and cleaning before submission to the national M&E  unit.
  • Provide regular feedback to field staff and beneficiaries on findings and performance  indicators.
  • Prepare and submit field-level reports and data sets to the national M&E Coordinator  for consolidation.
  • Support external evaluators and research teams during field studies in the South zone. o Ensure effective use of MIS systems (CommCare, CTO, etc.) by South M&Estaff. 

Human Resource Management, Development & Learning

  • Supervise and mentor the South M&E team, ensuring motivation and capacity to  perform.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to South field staff on data collection and  reporting procedures.
  • Support the national M&E Coordinator in capacity-building initiatives for staff and  partners.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and identify training needs for  the South M&E team.
  • Ensure close collaboration with the Field Operations Manager regarding South zone  data and M&E practices.

Communications & Partnerships 

  • Prepare zone-level M&E reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and submit them  to the national M&E Coordinator.
  • Participate in field visits, donor missions, and stakeholder meetings in the South as  delegated.
  • Support the preparation of success stories on quarterly basis.

Qualifications and requirements  

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree level in M&E, Statistics, Quantitative Economics or equivalent in  social sciences and or social research.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, Data management,  analysis and reporting of programs with ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Monitoring & Evaluation technology maintenance (Survey CTO,  Monitoring & Evaluation, Training, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Has experience working with development projects and communities
  • Willing to travel frequently within Tanzania and occasionally internationally
  • Result-driven, proactive and solution-oriented
  • Committed to work in a diverse and intercultural team
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Good presentation and report writing skills

The remuneration is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
