Role Purpose
The Retail Duty Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining visually engaging, brand-compliant displays across all product categories to enhance the customer experience and drive sales. The role includes implementing promotional plans, reporting monthly sales activity, and ensuring merchandising standards are upheld through team training. It also involves managing strong relationships with key business partners and stakeholders to support commercial objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Communicate shop sales targets to sales assistant and supervisors effectively ensuring all staffs are fully aware of the sales target and motivated to drive sales results.
- Train and brief store staff on visual standards and ongoing maintenance of displays.
- Implement planograms and seasonal campaign updates across all categories (fragrance, cosmetics, liquor, confectionery, fashion, accessories, etc.).
- Provide feedback to store and head office teams regarding merchandising effectiveness and shopper behavior.
- Support product launches, promotions, and marketing events through effective visual strategies.
- Conduct regular floor walks to assess display integrity and store presentation.
- Achieve shop sales targets on daily basis by the effective deployment of staffs and management of stock.
- Coordinate with merchandising team ensuring necessary stock and consumable is ordered from stores and/ or bonded warehouse for operational efficiencies and to meet sales targets.
- Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Managing the team service delivery, ensure excellent customer service are delivered to all guests
Required Skills, Experience & Qualification
- Minimum 7 years of retail experience, preferably in retail stores or duty-free environments
- Minimum 3 years of team management experience
- Strong team player with a proactive, self-starting attitude
- Flexible and adaptable to 24/7 operations, including day and night shifts
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated, takes initiative, and driven by targets
Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualification
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, high-traffic retail location (e.g., airport or high street retail) is preferred.
- Fluent in an East African language (e.g., Swahili)
- Strong IT proficiency and presentation skills
