About EACOP
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a major regional project spanning Uganda and Tanzania, constructing a 1,443km pipeline to transport crude oil from Uganda to the Tanga Port in Tanzania for international export.
Position Overview
EACOP is looking for a dynamic Deputy Security Manager to assist in overseeing all security aspects of the pipeline’s Tanzanian segment, including Lots 2 & 3, the Marine Terminal, and Jetty. This role ensures adherence to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) and provides support to the Security Manager.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Support the Security Manager and act as second-in-command
✅ Oversee contractors’ compliance with EACOP’s security framework
✅ Engage with government security forces and local stakeholders
✅ Manage incident reporting and emergency preparedness
✅ Lead and coordinate Security Advisors and Coordinators
✅ Prepare audits, training programs, and awareness campaigns
Qualifications & Experience
🎓 Master’s degree in Security Operations Management
🧠 Minimum 10 years in Security Management, 5 of which in oil & gas
🔐 Familiar with VPSHR, ISO standards (ISO 18788:2015, ISO 31010:2011)
🌍 Multicultural team experience & remote travel readiness
🗣️ Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Behavioral & Technical Competencies
- Strong leadership and risk management skills
- Effective communicator and culturally adaptable
- Knowledge of ISPS Code, ANSI/API Standard 780, and international best practices
