Role overview

To manage and grow the Salaried Workers Loan (SWL) portfolio within Local Government Authorities and Central Government Ministries by deepening penetration, strengthening institutional relationships, and ensuring sustainable portfolio growth and quality.

Main Responsibilities.

Identify and pursue growth opportunities within Local Government Authorities and Central Government Ministries.

Deepen penetration in assigned Government schemes through regular engagement with key decision makers, HR, payroll and other relevant Government officials.

carrying out structured employer visits, presentations, sales activations and financial literacy sessions to promote SWL and other relevant Personal Banking solutions Build, strengthen and maintain sustainable relationships with Government decision makers and key officials to support business continuity, customer access and portfolio growth Prepare and implement scheme penetration plans with measurable milestones for each assigned Local Government and Central Government institution.

providing leadership, coaching and day-to-day business support to Direct Sales Staff (DSS) and the Branch Network to achieve SWL acquisition and disbursement targets.

carrying out joint field visits with DSS and branch teams to Government employers, ensuring effective customer acquisition, product promotion and onboarding.

making sure DSS and branch teams adhere to compliance standards, ethical sales practices and accuracy of customer and loan documentation Monitor the SWL portfolio across assigned Local and Central Government schemes to deliver sustainable growth, portfolio quality and minimal NPLs.

Knowledge and Skills.

Sound knowledge of Retail and Personal Banking products and services, with strong understanding of Salaried Workers Lending.

Good understanding of Government employment structures, payroll processes and stakeholder dynamics within Local Government and Central Government institutions.

Sound knowledge of lending policies, credit procedures, portfolio quality management, operational risk and compliance requirements.

Good understanding of market dynamics, competitor offerings and customer needs within the salaried Government employee segment.

Proficiency in MS Office applications and relevant banking/sales systems.

Strong understanding of relationship management, sales planning, customer acquisition and portfolio penetration disciplines.

Excellent relationship management, stakeholder engagement and networking skills.

Strong sales, negotiation and business development skills.

Excellent communication, listening, presentation and facilitation skills in English and Kiswahili.

Strong analytical, planning, reporting and performance management skills.

Ability to coach and coordinate DSS and branch teams without direct reporting lines.

Ability to interpret portfolio performance, identify risks and drive corrective actions.

High level of initiative, accountability, adaptability and ability to execute in a high-pressure environment.

Ability to explain complex banking information clearly and simply to customers and institutional stakeholders.
