Role overview
The Analyst - Merchant will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable insights on merchant performance and merchant acquisition channels.
The role focuses on performance monitoring, reporting, analytics, stakeholder support, and effectiveness within the Merchant & Channel Acquisition function.
The successful candidate will work closely with MIS, Revenue Assurance (RA), IT, and key business stakeholders to monitor performance, analyze trends, resolve data issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Developing and monitor reward and recognition programs for merchant acquisition channels.
- Supporting the preparation of business cases for merchant/channel projects and campaigns.
- Analysing merchant performance and acquisition channels, focusing on Active Merchants, Subscribers, Transactions, and Revenue.
- Serve as a key point of contact for merchant performance and channel insights.
- Providing monthly analytical insights on arbitrage reports shared by the Revenue Assurance team.
- Deliver post-campaign performance reports covering impact analysis, key learnings, and achievements.
- Track contest performance, publish results, and follow up so that rewards are delivered to the right recipients.
- Collaborate with MIS and remaining data teams to investigate, reconcile, and resolve data inconsistencies.
- Preparing and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly merchant and channel performance reports.
- Providing support to internal stakeholders on reporting and merchant data-related queries.
- Monitoring daily performance against targets, highlight variances, and propose improvement opportunities.
- Preparing and submit accurate channel salary files at month-end.
- Continuously improve reports and dashboards to enhance usability and automation.
- Carrying out data querying and extraction from relevant systems; analyze inputs and generate reports to support management decisions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of channel commission models and recommending improvements to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Preparing, maintain, and present merchant performance dashboards to the Head of Department.
Requirements
- Effectiveness of incentive tracking and channel performance monitoring.
- Proactive and results-driven mindset.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience handling large datasets is a useful extra.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in data analysis, data mining, reporting, business intelligence, or performance monitoring.
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Data accuracy and consistency across dashboards.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Stakeholder satisfaction with insights and reporting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- And accurate delivery of merchant and channel reports.
- Knowledge of BI tools and data querying (Oracle, SQL Developer).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong analytical and logical thinking.
