Key responsibilities

• Reviewing geological interpretations, assays, geotechnical information and grade-control results as they become accessible.

• Developing longer-term mining options only following an initial validated geological model, resource basis and geotechnical inputs are approved.
• Preparing and maintain the short-term operating plan for safe, selective artisanal-scale shaft mining.
• Define the controlled pilot-feed source and contingency feed.
• Providing accurate daily, weekly and monthly mining reports and maintain mine plans, sections, schedules, production records, cost records and incident records.
• Source, tonnes, moisture where relevant, grade information, dilution, stockpile code, dispatch weights and feed approval.. This as well covers define the mine-side chain of custody from working face to stockpile and from stockpile to plant feed,.
• Making sure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements, mining legislation and approved operating procedures.
• Confirm legal and safe working areas, access controls, ground-control requirements, ventilation, dewatering and emergency arrangements.
• Coordinating planned mine outages and restricted-access zones with plant commissioning.
• Preparing contractor scopes and equipment requirements.
• Inspect the shaft, underground workings, access, ventilation, dewatering, ground conditions, hoisting, stockpiles, waste areas and plant-interface areas.
• Define mine-upgrade scope covering priority access, shaft or underground development, ground support, ventilation, dewatering, hoisting, critical equipment and grade control.
• Coordinating with Geology on drilling, sampling, structural information, target ranking and mineability.
• Putting in place and monitor ground-support systems and coordinate with the Geotechnical/TSF Engineer.
• Escalate contractor issues that might affect safety, cost, schedule or permits.
• Developing work packs for priority development headings and safety improvements.
• Managing mining contractors via approved scopes, method statements, inspections, hold points, performance monitoring and compliance controls.
• Maintaining a data-gap register for mine planning and identify information required for the initial resource model and short-term mine plan.
• Providing grade-control, mining recovery, dilution, mineability and reconciliation inputs to the QP Geologist and competent technical team for the initial geological model and every future resource or reserve work.
• Coordinating interim feed with the VAT-leach operation while preserving separate VAT production and recovery records.
• Coordinating mine access, restricted-access zones, outages and interface controls with plant construction and commissioning.
• Providing feed tonnes, grade range, dilution, moisture, fragmentation and blending assumptions for the 5 tph process-design basis.
• Carrying out workplace inspections and risk assessments and maintain a mine-risk register.
• Coordinating face sampling, grade control, ore/waste separation, stockpile coding, stockpile measurement, dispatch and feed-release controls.
• Providing the mine section operating review and scale-up evidence pack.
• Preparing short-term operating plans and rolling medium-term work programmes.
• Preparing practical work programmes, production targets and operating controls that are expressly subject to the accessible geological, geotechnical and grade-control evidence.
• Providing mining input to RC/DD access, underground exposure, drilling locations, rehabilitation and target ranking.
• Reconcile mined tonnes, plant-feed tonnes, head grade, moisture, dilution, recovered ounces, tailings grade and stockpile movements with the Metallurgist / Process Engineer.
• Taking part in emergency-response planning, incident investigation, mine-rescue interfaces where applicable, statutory inspections, emergency drills and dangerous-occurrence reporting in coordination with HSE.
• Maintaining separate production, stockpile, feed, recovery, sales and reconciliation records for current artisanal shaft mining, VAT leaching and the 5 tph CIL/CIP pilot.
• Reviewing the initial resource model, 90-day reconciliation, mineability, dilution, grade control, operating cost, equipment availability, access, water, ventilation and permits ahead of recommending every capacity expansion.
• Maintaining daily, weekly and monthly variance reporting for tonnes, grade, development, dilution, availability, labour, costs, incidents and constraints.
• Track contractor safety, productivity, cost, schedule and corrective actions.
• Do not approve or represent a resource or reserve estimate outside the applicable competent-person and governance process.
• Design or recommend mining methods only to the level supported by current information and identify data gaps that must be closed ahead of expansion.
• Reviewing accessible technical reports, workings, sampling, licence information, production records, safety records, equipment information and current working practices.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in underground safety, mine supervision, grade control, stockpile management, production reporting, and contractor management.
• 5 years or more of relevant underground or hard-rock gold experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with Tanzanian mining legislation and regulations.
• Ability to prepare and interpret mine plans, sections, and rolling schedules.
• Master's Degree in Mining or equivalent is a useful extra.

• Minimum 3 years of progressive mining engineering experience, covering at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in Tanzania, remote-site operations, artisanal or small-scale mine interfaces, and incomplete geological datasets is listed as useful extras.
• Proficiency in mine-planning software or structured spreadsheet planning, mine surveying, and production-data systems.
