We are looking for a Business Development Manager Distributor Area for expanding market presence, increasing revenue, and fostering long-term business relationships. Work across all potential Mines and Construction/Infrastructure industries and collaborate closely with respective BLMs (Business Line Managers) of Sandvik Sales Area Central Africa to implement growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Identify New Business Opportunities: Research markets, analyse trends, and uncover potential clients or partnerships to expand the company’s reach
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to ensure long-term engagement and satisfaction
Sales and Negotiation: Lead negotiations, prepare proposals, and close deals to secure profitable business opportunities
Market Analysis: Monitor competitors, industry trends, and customer needs to inform business strategies
Team Leadership: Oversee or collaborate with sales and marketing teams, providing guidance and reporting progress to senior management
Presentations and Pitches: Deliver compelling presentations to potential clients or partners, highlighting the company’s products or services
Required Skills and Qualifications
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term growth plans and adapt strategies to changing market conditions
Analytical Skills: Evaluate market data, trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities
Communication and Negotiation: Strong verbal and written communication skills to influence clients and close deals
Relationship Building: Empathy and interpersonal skills to foster trust and maintain client loyalty
Self-Motivation and Resilience: Ability to work independently, meet targets, and thrive in a performance-driven environment
Industry Knowledge: A minimum of 10 years experience in Sales of heavy equipment to Mining and Construction Industries
Qualification: A minimum Bachelor’s in Engineering (any discipline) and Masters/MBA will be an added advantage
Distributor Management: Good understanding of distributor way of working is a must
Work Environment and Reporting
Travelling around 50%
Reports to the Accounts & Applications Manager – Central Africa
Performance Metrics
Revenue growth and sales targets achieved.
Number of new clients or partnerships secured.
Market expansion and penetration into new territories.
Client satisfaction and retention rates.
