About the Role

UBA Tanzania is seeking an executive-level Chief Credit Officer to oversee and safeguard the Bank’s credit risk assets within a secure yet flexible framework. The executive will lead credit structuring, administration, risk mitigation, and recovery functions while ensuring complete compliance with Bank of Tanzania regulatory standards and international risk models.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio & Credit Oversight: Maintain a high-quality credit portfolio, minimize non-performing loans (NPLs), and enforce credit policy guidelines across the entire credit lifecycle.
Departmental Leadership: Supervise credit analysis structuring, product programs, credit administration, monitoring, and remedial/recovery units.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Enforce adherence to national and regional credit regulations, lead internal/external audit responses, and mitigate credit infractions.
Process & Strategy Improvement: Develop product programs balancing commercial strategy and asset security, analyze causes of credit failures, and drive bank-wide credit training.

Candidate Requirements:

First degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, MA) or Professional Accounting/Finance Qualification is mandatory.
Minimum 10 years of relevant banking experience (or 15 years in related non-banking financial sectors).
Demonstrated mastery in credit structuring, fraud control, internal audit practices, comprehensive banking operations, and financial analysis.
Proven executive leadership, strategic decision-making, and interrogatory/investigative abilities.
