Role overview
The Procurement Specialist (Vitamins & Minerals) leads the global strategic sourcing of micronutrients, carriers, and specialty raw materials for Sanku's food-fortification premix blending facilities in East Africa.
The role is central to securing high-quality, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant raw materials that support life-saving grain fortification programs across Africa.
Global Strategic Sourcing: Identify, qualify, negotiate with, and manage global suppliers of food-grade vitamins, minerals, carriers, and specialty raw materials to mitigate supply risks.
Procurement Planning & ERP: Translate production forecasts into actionable procurement plans to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent downtime at blending facilities in Tanzania and Ethiopia.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce compliance with international food safety standards (FSSC 22000, ISO, HACCP, Certificates of Analysis, traceability) and coordinate with import regulatory authorities.
Cost Optimization & Logistics: Conduct market price analyses, negotiate long-term supplier agreements, manage freight planning, and optimize total landed costs.
Supplier Performance & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Monitor vendor performance, track supply chain risks, and collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
Requirements
- Language Skills: High proficiency in written and spoken English. Ability to communicate in Mandarin or Hindi is a useful extra.
- Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of global food safety standards, international trade documentation, and import/export compliance procedures.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of international procurement experience specifically dealing with food-grade ingredients, micronutrients, vitamins, minerals, or specialty chemical raw materials.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (Degrees in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Nutrition are an advantage).
- Professional Certification: Professional qualification like PSPTB, CIPS, CPSP, or equivalent is preferred.
