Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

The Internal Auditor provides independent, risk-based assurance to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Akiba Commercial Bank’s internal controls, risk management systems, governance structures, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

  • Audit Execution & Risk Assessment: Plan and execute risk-based operational, financial, and compliance audits in alignment with the annual audit plan.

  • Control & System Evaluation: Assess the adequacy and efficiency of internal accounting controls, operational workflows, and risk governance structures across bank branches and departments.

  • Compliance & Special Audits: Verify adherence to internal policies, Bank of Tanzania (BOT) regulatory guidelines, and statutory laws; perform unannounced spot checks and assist with special investigations.

  • Reporting & Tracking: Draft clear, evidence-supported audit reports detailing control weaknesses and root causes; follow up on audit recommendation implementations (internal, external, and BOT inspections).

  • Data Analysis & Documentation: Conduct data analytics to support risk assessments and maintain complete, auditable working paper files.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant – CPA (T) or equivalent recognized accounting qualification.

    • Additional CIA, CISA, or risk management certifications are an added advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of progressive audit experience, preferably within banking or financial institution environments.

  • Core Competencies & Skills:
