Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
The Accounts Clerk works within the Delegation’s Administration Section (a team of 13 people) under the supervision of the Head of Administration Section. The position serves as an initiating agent responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining budget accounts, verifying invoices, and assisting with administrative duties in compliance with EU Financial Regulations.

Accounts Management: Receive, register, and verify commercial invoices, credit notes, and payment requests against contracts/purchase orders; execute local bank account payments using financial systems (SUMMA); maintain the contractor and staff database; manage petty cash.

Budget Monitoring & Reporting: Track, verify, and adjust authorized budget execution; assist with annual/interim administrative budget planning; prepare monthly closures, reconciliations, and ex-post control files.

Administrative & Payroll Support: Calculate mission cost estimates and liquidate travel expenses; assist with procurement orders and contract tracking; help prepare monthly local staff payroll (overtime, salary arrears) and expatriate staff allowances.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Post-secondary degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) in Accounting, Audit, Finance, or an equivalent field. (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant post-degree professional experience in accounting, finance, or auditing.

Experience within a diplomatic mission, development agency, international organization, or working with EU financial tools/policies is considered a strong asset.

Language Requirements: High proficiency/good command of English (minimum CEFR B1 level). (Knowledge of French, Spanish, German, or Italian is an asset).

Legal & Health Requirements: Valid right to reside and work in Tanzania; medical fitness to carry out duties.
