Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the Project Officer, the Project Assistant – Gender and Nutrition supports the field-level execution of the WEZESHA Project in Makere, Kigoma.
- The position drives community mobilization, gender equality, dietary diversity, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) initiatives, and accurate monitoring across host and refugee communities.
- Project Implementation & Community Engagement (40%): Coordinate gender- and nutrition-sensitive field activities; mobilize community groups, women, youth, and persons with disabilities; facilitate community dialogues and beneficiary trainings.
- Gender & Nutrition Programming (25%): Drive nutrition awareness, promote dietary diversity, integrate protection and gender considerations into project activities, and document best practices.
- Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management (15%): Collect, verify, and track beneficiary data (disaggregated by age, sex, and vulnerability); maintain attendance logs; support assessments and field reporting.
- Stakeholder Coordination (10%): Liaise with local government authorities, agricultural extension officers, refugee structures, and community leaders.
- Admin & Operations (10%): Assist in organizing workshops, track field project materials, and maintain complete project documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies, Nutrition, Public Health, Community Development, Sociology, Agriculture, or related Social Sciences.
- Experience: At least 2 to 5 years of paid work experience in community-based gender, nutrition, public health, agriculture, or humanitarian/refugee programming.
Core Competencies & Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated track record of community mobilization and training facilitation.
- Proficiency in data collection and reporting tools (familiarity with KoboToolbox or ODK is a plus).
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of humanitarian standards, safeguarding, and PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment) principles.
