Primary responsibilities

The Software Developer will:

Design, architect, develop, test, maintain, and support software tools, applications, and platforms.

Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including:

Coding

Documentation

Testing

Deployment

User training

Post-implementation support

Maintenance

Issue resolution

Evaluate and improve existing products by researching and integrating new and alternative technologies, tools, frameworks, and architectural approaches.

Develop scalable, robust, modular, automatable, efficient, and maintainable code.

Implement modular software components with a clean separation of concerns to support maintainability and reusability.

Orchestrate modules and services to ensure smooth system performance, proper integration, and high availability.

Design and implement unit tests using frameworks such as Jest, JUnit, PyTest, and Mocha to ensure code quality and support continuous integration processes.

Work with message-queuing technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ to build scalable and decoupled distributed systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm, prototype, and build new products and features.

Demonstrate a passion for modern technologies, particularly open-source ecosystems.

Participate in peer reviews, knowledge-sharing discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should have:

A degree in Computer Science or a related field.

At least three years of relevant software development experience covering both front-end and back-end development.

Proficiency in front-end development using ReactJS.

Strong back-end development experience using Python, Java, or Node.js.

An understanding of API development and integration protocols, including REST and SOAP.

Experience working with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.

Hands-on experience using Kafka or RabbitMQ for message queue processing.

A strong understanding of software engineering principles, including modularization, microservices patterns, and system orchestration.

Experience writing and maintaining unit tests using modern testing frameworks.

Familiarity with human-centred design and UI/UX methodologies.

Demonstrated experience completing coding assessments on platforms such as Codility.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, containerization technologies such as Docker, and cloud environments will be an added advantage.
