Role Overview
As a core member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Head of People is responsible for leading the strategic human resources function at WaterAid Tanzania. The role provides strategic advice to the Country Director and SMT on workforce planning, talent management, organizational development, safeguarding, and labor law compliance to align the country program’s workforce with its 2030 strategy.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and execute the People Strategy to drive organizational growth, advising leadership on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and culture.

Talent & Performance Management: Oversee end-to-end HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, and reward systems. WaterAid Tanzania Job Vacancy

Organizational Development: Build leadership capabilities, lead change management initiatives, and foster an inclusive, high-performance work environment.

Compliance & Safeguarding: Ensure complete compliance with Tanzanian labor laws, WaterAid’s safer recruitment policies, safeguarding protocols, and risk management standards.

Departmental Operations: Manage the People Department budget, maintain HR information systems, and utilize data analytics to inform decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Leadership & Capability Development, or a related field. WaterAid Tanzania Job Vacancy

Professional Certification: Recognized HR professional qualification.

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years (or significant senior-level) HR leadership experience, preferably within an international NGO or development sector environment.

Core Competencies: Expertise in Tanzanian employment law, talent acquisition, change management, safeguarding, analytical capability, and stakeholder management.
