Role Overview

The Compliance Officer will work closely with stakeholders and under the supervision of the Compliance Manager to evaluate risks, recommend internal control enhancements, and maintain oversight across financial management, procurement, inventory, and subrecipient tracking.

Core Responsibilities

  • Risk Management & Controls: Evaluate and strengthen internal control systems, identify project-specific risks, and track risk mitigation plans.

  • Compliance & Auditing: Conduct desk reviews and spot-checks to ensure alignment with U.S. Government (USG) donor regulations, local laws, disbarment/anti-terrorism policies, and organizational standards.

  • Financial Oversight: Review QuickBooks transactions to prevent improper charges or disallowed costs, align expenditures with forecasts, and conduct subrecipient monitoring visits.

  • Fraud Prevention & Investigations: Actively monitor project operations to mitigate fraud, conduct special analytical investigations, and escalate gross misconduct or fraudulent activity directly to leadership.

  • Training & Reporting: Develop best practices, deliver internal control training to staff, and provide regular implementation updates to the Compliance Manager and project leadership.
