Position Summary

Job Title: Teller In-Charge

Job Purpose

The Teller In-Charge supervises daily front-desk operations, ensuring all cash, agency banking, and mobile money transactions are executed accurately and in strict compliance with financial security procedures. Reporting to management, this position oversees cash float management, daily balance reconciliations, high-value transaction approvals, and team coaching.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Operations Supervision & Transaction Management:
- Supervise daily teller activities to ensure full adherence to company policies, internal financial controls, and security measures.
- Oversee cash deposits, withdrawals, transfers, mobile money cash-in/cash-out, bill payments, and agency banking services.
- Ensure transaction processing across various banks and mobile networks is executed swiftly and accurately.
- Verify, authorize, and monitor high-value or sensitive financial transactions.
Cash Control, Float & Reconciliation:
- Manage teller cash floats to guarantee sufficient liquidity for daily branch operations.
- Monitor and reconcile daily cash balances, till balances, and transaction logs.
- Promptly investigate and resolve transaction discrepancies, errors, or cash over/shorts.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transaction summaries and cash reports for management.
Team Guidance & Customer Service:
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve transaction-related complaints with high professionalism.
- Provide ongoing training, mentoring, and support to tellers to boost service speed, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding customer accounts and company financial data.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Education & Training:

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related academic discipline.

Key Competencies & Personal Attributes:

Financial Integrity: Outstanding honesty, trustworthiness, and strong personal ethics.
Technical Familiarity: Practical experience handling high-volume cash operations, banking procedures, and mobile money networks (M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, HaloPesa, etc.).
Accounting Skills: Strong numerical capability, reconciliation expertise, and meticulous attention to detail.
Soft Skills: Excellent customer service, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform well under pressure.
