Job Purpose

The Tax Analyst oversees statutory tax compliance, tax accounting, and regulatory engagements at Yas Tanzania. Reporting to Finance Leadership, this role is responsible for accurate tax filings, conducting tax research, preparing IFRS tax computations, managing tax audits with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), and optimizing tax risk management controls.

Core Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Tax Compliance & Statutory Filing:
- Prepare, review, and ensure timely filing and payment of all statutory taxes in compliance with Tanzanian tax laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Prepare monthly and annual tax reconciliations, provisions, and computations according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Tax Advisory & Risk Management:
- Conduct technical tax research, analyze business transactions, and provide practical advice to support commercial decisions.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation, identify potential tax exposures, and implement internal controls to mitigate risks.
Tax Audits & Regulatory Engagement:
- Coordinate documentation and respond to queries regarding tax audits, investigations, and TRA assessments.
- Act as a key liaison in managing tax disputes and regulatory interactions.
Stakeholder Management & Process Automation:
- Build and maintain productive relationships with tax authorities, external auditors, and internal finance teams.
- Drive tax process improvements, automation, and tax technology initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Educational & Professional Credentials:

Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related academic discipline.
Professional Qualification: CPA (T), ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is a distinct added advantage.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant tax experience.
Prior experience within a multinational company, telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, or a reputable audit/tax advisory firm (Big 4 or equivalent).

Key Competencies & Technical Skills:

Tax Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of Tanzanian tax legislation, IFRS accounting standards, and tax provisions.
TRA Interaction: Practical experience dealing directly with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) is a strong added advantage.
Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving, numerical analysis, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
