The Key Purpose of this job is to lead and manage the overall brand communications execution across Greater African markets (Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana & Nigeria). This specialist communications/marketing role involves developing and implementing comprehensive corporate branding initiatives, managing public relations activities, and ensuring brand consistency across all platforms, supporting the sustainability, regulatory and govt affairs functions for Greater Africa. The manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes on communications.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Corporate Brand Management
- Develop and implement brand strategies to strengthen the company’s image and increase brand awareness across all markets
- Ensure alignment with group brand guidelines and manage major brand projects and initiatives
- Oversee the production of all digital content, including photography, video, multimedia, and online copy
- Ensure brand compliance under the guidance of the company brand policies
- Develop engaging and effective corporate communication campaigns to drive understanding and buy-in among critical stakeholders
Corporate Brand Strategy
- Lead the formulation of brand strategies and plans to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and cost reduction
- Develop and execute integrated communication and engagement strategies to positively influence stakeholder perception
- Create and manage content calendars for digital channels, including social media, websites, and newsletters
Public Relations
- Manage public relations activities to enhance the company’s public image and strengthen stakeholder relationships
- Develop and provide key communication support for corporate events and high-quality speeches/presentations for executive management
- Draft press releases, speeches, and other business correspondence
Media & Advertising
- Lead the execution of media strategies, ensuring effective campaign execution across all media channels
- Develop detailed campaign briefs for internal and external teams to create and deploy relevant and compelling content
- Monitor trends and audience engagement, providing detailed analyses of marketing activities
Regulatory Engagement
- Engage with government stakeholders’ campaigns on public policy
- Work closely with community leaders, internal stakeholders, and external content creators to tell compelling stories and engage with the online audience
Sustainability Projects
- Drive and execute Sustainability Communications Country Plan
- Implementation – Index Improvement for Sustainability Projects (as per framework)
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Brand Awareness
- Increase brand awareness by X% across all markets within the first year
- Achieve a brand recall rate of X% in target markets
Engagement Metrics
- Increase social media engagement (likes, shares, comments) by X% within six months
- Achieve an average engagement rate of X% on digital content
Public Relations
- Secure X number of positive media mentions per quarter
- Increase positive sentiment in media coverage by X%
Campaign Performance:
- Achieve X% increase in campaign reach and impressions
- Meet or exceed campaign ROI targets by X%
Stakeholder Satisfaction
- Achieve a stakeholder satisfaction score of X% in annual surveys
- Increase internal stakeholder engagement by X% through effective communication initiatives
Content Production
- Produce and publish X pieces of high-quality content per month
- Ensure X% of content aligns with brand guidelines and messaging
Minimum Requirements:
- Honor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Creative related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a corporate communications or brand management role, with 5 years in a managerial position
- Experience in digital communications, social media, and public relations
- Strong understanding of consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and research principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
Additional Information:
- Band VII
This role requires frequent travel across the seven markets. The manager will report to the Director for Corporate Communications and work closely with the executive management team.
