Position Overview
The Programme Officer will support the implementation of the “Strengthening Zanzibar’s Multisectoral ECD Programme through Quality, Equitable and Community-Based Nurturing Care Services for Children Aged 0–3 Years” project. Operating across targeted districts in Zanzibar, this role focuses on advancing community-based childcare services, caregiver support, workforce capacity development, gender-responsive systems, and monitoring. The officer works closely with government counterparts, CBOs, FBOs, women’s collectives, and local stakeholders to drive program quality and strengthen government ECD systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Implementation: Coordinate day-to-day project activities across targeted Zanzibar districts to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of early childhood development outcomes.
- Community & System Strengthening: Build capacity within local community-based childcare services, support caregiver initiatives, and strengthen government multisectoral ECD structures.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government officials, CBOs, FBOs, women’s groups, and childcare providers to foster strong partnerships and local ownership.
- Gender-Responsive Support: Embed gender equality principles into early childhood care services and local workforce development strategies.
- Monitoring & Learning: Support program monitoring, data collection, and learning documentation to track project performance and inform adaptive management.
